SALT LAKE CITY (February 8, 2023) – Sutherland Institute is pleased to announce the 2023 Sutherland Annual Gala on Thursday, March 23, at 7 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
The event will include the presentation of a newly renamed recognition: the George A. Sutherland Award, which will be presented to former member of the Utah House of Representatives Lowry Snow and to American Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Ian Rowe.
“The Sutherland Annual Gala blends entertainment with inspiration, leaving attendees with a renewed commitment to the principles and institutions necessary for freedom. The 2023 edition will offer a particular focus on the principles that allow the next generation to flourish,” said Rick Larsen, Sutherland president and CEO. “I can’t think of two more deserving recipients of the Award – Lowry and Ian stand for principle and service to others.”
George Sutherland was Utah’s first and only U.S. Supreme Court justice, and his life of public service was marked by his character, his respect for differing views, and his steadfast devotion to the constitutional guarantees of liberty. Sutherland Institute proudly bears his name in the spirit of these enduring principles.
Lowry Snow served for a decade in the Utah House of Representatives, where he championed the importance of freedom, education and the vital role of families. He is a well-known and respected pillar of business, law and public policy in St. George and throughout Utah.
Ian Rowe is a senior fellow at American Enterprise Institute, where he focuses on education, upward mobility and family formation. Rowe is also the co-founder of Vertex Partnership Academies, a network of character-based International Baccalaureate high schools. He is also the author of “Agency: The Four Point Plan (F.R.E.E.) for ALL Children to Overcome the Victimhood Narrative and Discover Their Pathway to Power.”
More details, including headline entertainment and program information, will be announced soon. Visit the 2023 Sutherland Gala events page for more information.
