SALT LAKE CITY, May 5, 2022 —Today Sutherland Institute President and CEO Rick Larsen announced a significant leadership change to the organization’s Board of Directors. Brent Andrewsen has been named to lead the board through an unprecedented period of growth.
“Brent has served as an executive committee member of the Sutherland Board for some time,” Larsen said. “His professional experience and leadership will benefit Sutherland as we significantly expand our research and education efforts. We are most grateful for his character. His personal alignment with Sutherland principles and values will further Sutherland’s mission for years to come.”

BIO:
Mr. Andrewsen is the current past chairman of the Board of Directors at Kirton McConkie and a member of the firm’s tax and corporate sections. His practice includes estate planning, probate and trust administration, gift taxation, tax-exempt organizations, charitable trusts and planned giving. Mr. Andrewsen has also advised clients with respect to business matters and has assisted in forming various business entities and transactions. He is a frequent speaker on issues regarding tax-exempt organizations, planned giving, estate planning, and related topics. In addition to his professional work, he has sat on the boards of various charitable organizations over the years.
Mr. Andrewsen has an AV PreeminentTM peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is recognized as one of Utah’s Legal Elite for estate planning, a Mountain States Super Lawyer for estate planning and nonprofits, and a Best Lawyer for trusts/estates and nonprofit/charities. He was also honored by Utah Business magazine as a 40 Under 40 Rising Star.
