Krisana Finlay
Family Policy Fellow
As a Family Policy Fellow for Sutherland Institute, Krisana focuses her research on the family as a civic institution and parents’ leadership role of that institution. Krisana came to Sutherland with over eight years of experience in public policy, politics, and development in the private and public sector. Prior to Sutherland, Krisana worked as a senior healthcare strategy associate for Leavitt Partners, where she became a subject matter expert in social determinants of health – the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health outcomes. She is also the founder of Wedshare.
In previous work, Krisana served as the Salt Lake Chamber’s policy fellow, focusing on regulatory impact in the private sector, paid family leave, and the gender pay gap. She also served as deputy director of development and congressional liaison for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation – a Washington, D.C.-based, multinational nonprofit that works to abolish sexual exploitation via legal, corporate, and legislative action.
Krisana graduated from Brigham Young University with dual bachelor’s degrees in neuroscience and family life – with an emphasis on human development – and from the University of Utah with dual master’s degrees in public policy and public health. Her past work includes research for BYU’s Flourishing Families Project and Department of Neuroscience, for Sutherland Institute as a policy intern, and for the University of Utah’s Office of Health System Innovation and Research. Krisana lives in Sandy, Utah.
