Rick B. Larsen

President & CEO

Rick Larsen came to Sutherland with more than 30 years of experience in management, media, and public policy. A lengthy career in the nonprofit sector included roles as chief development officer for United Way of Salt Lake and president of Operation Kids Foundation – a global nonprofit serving the diverse needs of children. His early career included a decade in the entertainment industry producing award-winning family films and live events. He has provided strategic consulting to a wide range of endeavors including ballot initiatives, political campaigns, and for-profit corporate social responsibility strategies.

He graduated cum laude from the University of Utah with bachelor’s degrees in political science (with an emphasis on public policy) and family and consumer studies. His insights and policy analysis have been featured in The Hill, Deseret News, Salt Lake Tribune and Utah Policy. He is a member of the AEI Leadership Network, the Board of Advisors for the Dignity Index, the Utah Advisory Committee for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, and the Advancement Board for the College of Social and Behavioral Science at the University of Utah.
