25th Anniversary Gala – Couples Tickets

On November 9, Sutherland will celebrate 25 years of proudly providing independent research and principled policy perspective to Utah’s Legislature and local communities – on issues that affect us all.

You are invited to attend our 25th Anniversary Celebration at our Annual Gala. Keynote and honoree Doris Kearns Goodwin will share her unmatched knowledge of American history and receive the Sutherland New Birth of Freedom Award alongside Laurie Swim – co-founder of Sutherland Institute and Brigadier General (Ret.) and former U.S. Senator Jake Garn.

Jenny Oaks Baker and her family will present a moving musical tribute to the history of this great nation.


Doris Kearns Goodwin

Picture of Doris Kearns GoodwinDoris Kearns Goodwin is a world-renowned presidential historian, public speaker and Pulitzer Prize- winning, New York Times No. 1 best-selling author. Her seventh book, Leadership in Turbulent Times, was published in 2018. A culmination of Goodwin’s career of studying the American presidents, the book provides a roadmap for leaders in every field, and for all of us.

Goodwin was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for No Ordinary Time: Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt: The Home Front in World War II.

Her book Team of Rivals served as the basis for Steven Spielberg’s hit film Lincoln.

Jenny Oaks Baker is a Grammy-nominated, Billboard No. 1 performer and recording artist. She has performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the Library of Congress, and as a guest soloist with The National Symphony, Jerusalem Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Utah Symphony and the Tabernacle Choir. Jenny has released 14 studio albums, which have sold nearly a million copies. Jenny, her husband, Matthew, and their four children (Family Four) reside in Salt Lake City.
