David Buer brings a wide range of communications experience in the nonprofit and entrepreneurial realms to Sutherland Institute. After earning a B.A. in communications (public relations emphasis) from Brigham Young University in 2002, Dave worked for a nonprofit in Atlanta handling media relations and multimedia. In 2005, he created a multimedia company that served clients nationwide, from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
Since joining Sutherland in 2011, Dave’s communications work has contributed to significant policy victories in areas such as immigration, government spending, citizen engagement, digital learning, government corruption, and religious freedom. Dave has helped Sutherland influence outcomes using a wide range of communications channels, from earned media to grassroots mobilization, social media, video, radio, and statewide traditional media campaigns. Dave and his wife, Jessica, are the parents of five boys.
