The fiscal cliffs of insanity

“Do you want me to send you back to where I found you … UNEMPLOYED in GREENLAND?”

Or perhaps “Princess Bride’s” Vizzini should have threatened Fezzik with unemployment in the United States. As the graphic below shows us, the tax bite that will follow if the U.S. goes off the fiscal cliff won’t feel so good to the unemployed … or anyone else:

    It is indeed, exactly what President Obama wants to see happen. Why else would he be ignoring and taunting the GOP?

    I’m ready to go over the so-called “cliff.”  It’s the only serious deficit-reduction plan that has passed Congress and been signed into law by the President.  It’s the only way to make the Bush Tax Cuts For The Rich expire.  It’s the only way Washington politicians will cut Pentagon spending.

    Oh, the poster forgets to mention that the Senate has already passed a bill to make the Bush Tax Cuts permanent for the first $250,000 of income.  All the House has to do is pass the same bill, and President Obama has already promised to sign it!
