“Par for the course” from someone working for the USOE. Rather than address the concerns or questions being raised by an individual, attack the individual who is raising them. Wow, impressive.

So, Sydnee, as a “former” principal, do you no longer possess the skills or knowledge gained while you were an “acting” principal? Do you claim, thereby, that you now have no authority to comment on, question the actions of, or provide information to the public regarding real or perceived impacts on public education? Even if you accept these limiting and unrealistic expectations on yourself (which you clearly don’t because you commented above), it is selfish and conceited at best to expect that no one else would be capable of retaining their skills and knowledge while not continuing to be paid for their skills and knowledge. Your attack is much akin to the claim that Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life” simply because she never worked for pay. Some people are not so selfish and conceited as that.

I would suggest fact checking Ms. Swasey’s constant claim of being a teacher. While it is true that she has a current teaching license, she last taught for two years in two different charter schools in 2006 and 2007. Thus, she is a former Utah teacher. I used to be a principal so I now say I am a “former” principal. The “former” part is never mentioned by Ms. Swasey. To promote herself as a teacher as if she is currently teaching, using the Common Core, is false, or at best…partially true.
