Surely even you guys are smart enough to see the irony in asking Utahns if THIS might be the issue that puts us over the line into "nanny-state" territory? A state that has to cover our children's eyes for us, so they don't see liquor in a restaurant. A state that is now considering covering our children's ears for us, so they don't hear the word "condom" in school.

Absurd. Absurd, ignorant, and stupid.

Ironically, Romero presents the best argument in opposition to his own bill when he lists all the ridiculous strings attached to a driver's license and suggests that they might be considered "nanny state" laws. I wholeheartedly agree.

A driver should either be licensed or not licensed; this pseudo-licensing needs to go away. I agree with Senator Adams: this bill would open the door for all sorts of micro-management, until driving is outlawed altogether - which, of course, would also save many lives. I'm very sad to see that this has gotten any support at all.

I think a better idea would be to not allow hand held devices. You just have to use a blue tooth while driving and then it is the same for everyone. On the other hand, I think we do have too many driving laws in UT. I also think the police are way too aggressive here. I often wonder if they have Mormon missionary like meetings to motivate the officers to give more tickets.
