“We are honored to have Dr. Feulner with us for this special occasion,” said Paul T. Mero, Sutherland president.  “Welcoming this outstanding conservative leader to Utah, the nation’s conservative capital, is a perfect fit.”

2.Sutherland Pushing for Legislative Ethics Reform

In an article published in Salt Lake City Weekly on January 10, 2008, Sutherland Institute President Paul T. Mero said there needs to be a new wave of ethics reform in the 2008 Legislative Session.  “Politicians, Mero says, ‘become so insulated in their own world, they create their own rules.’”  As for a possible solution, “Mero says legislative leadership should interview all members of their parties about potential conflicts.  Then, he says, leaders should keep conflicted lawmakers off policy-making committees that touch on their own businesses.”
